Kari Mudande with Singing

Teacher: Moyo Rainos Mutamba

Age Levels: Teens, Adults

Skill Levels: Intermediate Intermediate

Topics: Mbira, Singing

Audio recording allowed. Video recording allowed.

Cost: By donation

For beginner and intermediate mbira players and singers, Kari Mudande is a highly accessible song--especially for beginners--and is fun to play. This workshop will focus on the call for Kari Mudande on mbira, and call and response for vocals that accompany it. By the workshops's conclusion, the goal is to develop the ability to either to play one variation, sing the call or response, or play one variation on mbira while singing. Having witnessed the success of learners at various levels, the latter is quite possible!

Student Materials: Bring your own G tuning mbira; some may be provided.
